MEMOSA XMAS

well... christmas turned out to be a pretty great day after all. christmas eve was a bit rocky... dinner at rashid's (it was really really really yummy!) and then everyone met up for drinks as we bar hopped a bit. a bit too much to drink and a bit of a taxing year had us breaking down into tears...

but christmas day thanks to jon's idea to serve mamosas for xmas brunch - the spirit definetly got turned up a bit!

it's back to coffee in the morning (finishing off the last of the eggnog as creamer) and work. i could've used a couple days to recover, but alas... i shall, indeed, survive.

hope everyone had a really terrific christmas! all love

XMAS EVE 2008

seth & zane came over last night to chop my hair off. i think he did a good job, but it's just gonna take a bit of getting used to.

today, i went driving through gates pass and having my bit of reflectiveness for the year. i'll get into it more later, but for now... having some coffee and playing with the kittens. going to dinner @ rashids later tonight.

so... for now, have a great christmas everybody!

VINTAGE WEDNESDAY

i really dig vintage shops. always have. not so much Goodwill, though. it's true the great thrift shop smell runs rapant in any good will like it should... and the vibe is that as it should be. however..
what's up with goodwill's prices. not super cool to charge department store prices at a thrift shop. who cares if everything is organized and accessable with terrific matching hanging signs over each - department.
we're not here for that, but i digress...
so, we shop in local non-chain thrift shops.... which i was doing yesterday. i guess i was looking for a duel cassette player for my studio... sadly, i didn't find it, but i did find a bar table! i actually used to have one just like it. i think (if i'm not mistaken) that i gave it to kate when i had moved to tampa for the first time. i'm pretty sure it was in her kitchen when seth and i stayed with her.
anyway... i wanted a higher table. something i could lean on... just a different vibe out in the kitchen, and presto! i got the whole thing for $40.oo!!!!!!!! i'm thinking of changing out the tiles on the top for red one's... or maybe red and black checkers? time will tell...
i gave my table to jon. it was given to me, and so it only seems right that it should be put forward to someone else.
i've always found it strange to think about what you own... even the things you love... and their vulnerabilty to permanance. slowly... all things change. i supose that makes us all vintage and life kinda like a thriftshop. but it's okay, we're great deals, and in realitivly fine shape (well.. considering...)

WE'VE ONLY GOT 4 MINUTES TO SAVE THE WORLD...

yay! just a really bad sound quality leak, but a leak none the same of madonna's new single "4 minutes to save the world" showed up online. having my morning coffee in my robe which definetly is a sign that a new week has begun. i think hannah is working for me tomorrow so i can go drop off some applications. i love my job, most of the time, but it's just in no way enough money for me right now in my life.

jon helped me with the living room wall. it's not done, but it's well on the way. i imagine one day that i will live in a place that does not have even ONE white wall in it. i will of course then go to other people's homes and envy quietly the normalcy of their white walls.

actually, fat chance of that ever happening.

have been going over old diaries for inspiration for songs for my new album.

the kittens are endless joy and entertainment. tentative names are as follows... the baby calico who looks just like her mother is named Casey. The black and white one that looks just like Sirius, but is not his... is named Sam. The orange ball of fluff, is named officially Jakob Blue. Jake is soooo cute. He's quite the litteral ball of orange puff. When he runs he sorta hops over things instead of jumps. It is hardly gracefull and the fact that he's orange, and rather round makes the hoping thing all the more endearing and terrific.

Let's see... it was kind of a low-key weekend. Went out for drinks on Saturday night. Nothing special. Just a Saturday. I really do wish for an exciting ---- something. Weekend soon.

Classes are at night - the ones that i want to take - next semester and so it's time for a day job. Wish me luck with that one, my babies.

Well... The "4 minutes to save the world" leak is my most exciting news, and it's not even mine, it's Madonnas... so i'll close. Have a fab week yall.

REPORTING LIVE: FROM FINALS WEEK..UGH

good morning happy blog world! #1 in the coffee count for this morning, so far and listening to joni mitchells new album. she's currently doing a song version of rudyard kipling's "if." it sounds like something that would be on a 2005 ani difranco disc. i don't hate it.

i have my last final today at 2:45. yay! for that to be over and done with =) i'm thinking about taking a music theory class next semester to compliment the new beginings of my recording studio that i have begun working on again.

blue skies and sun again here in southern arizona. i'm told the winds are comming and i cannot say i am anything but hopeful and excited for that.

in other news, in this last fall of rain that we were lucky enough to get (though most of us were miserable and shaking fists at skies and other drivers on our morning commute to work during the actual rain fall), my wall/roof started leaking again. thankfully, it has been fixed but the water damage to the wall was severe and needs to be re-painted. this is actually great news because i've been at odds with myself about painting that exact wall a very bright red for months.

so guess what i'm doing this weekend, ha!

the kittens are great. each with their own little personality, and endless hours of fun. i'm greatuful for them, actually. rather than burdened by their non-expected births. i will be very sad to see them go, and do not look forward to the day at ALL!

i suppose that is all for now. drove home through downtown last night. tucson was brave with their brightly colored trees in the central median park. bright blues and reds and oranges and multicoloreds for each tree. i might take a walk through downtown before christmas comes to take some pictures. i fully back the rio-nuevo project in downtown. not because i think it's well thought out, or even that it's worth the money or hassle that it's hinting at, but because this is a city of over a million people, and it kinda sorta needs to start acting like it.

anyhowzits.... peace to the grubby little kids. see you all later!

MONDAY AGAIN....

oh, yay. another monday. we all know how i dig the monday - i don't. weekend was ok. drank a bit too much for my taste but... went to the 4th avenue street fair. i'd like to say i was culturly awed by all the different tents propped up with all the great and colorfull things being sold... but i was kinda bored. the weather was chilly (for tucson) and it rained on saturday.

if i had the weekend to do over again, i think i would stay in me house, watch movies and play with my gaggle of kitties.

A GOOD WEEKEND.

it's been a good weekend. we went to the tucson zoo today! it was very cool. i don't really know what to say about it other than it was a lot of fun. we arrived late so we only had an hour to go through everything. it was a bit rushed, but very cool.

helped kevin the black move tonight. it was a rush job. been through it many times. humbling experience those things are. kevin was moving things all alone, and then seth got word of it. seth called me. i brought jon and 2 other people showed up too. we got it all done in about an hour. people are meant to be together.

in other news. i know i'm a couple years late on this one, but that's okay. i've been really into mandy moore latley. her version of rhianna's "umbrella" breaks my heart.

anyway... watched the movie, "a walk to remember." it wasn't just a good cry. i cried violently for about an hour and a half. filmmaking is amazing. truely.
